Titan A.E. is set in the year 3028, when Earthlings have conquered outer
space. Travelling to the farthest reaches of the universe is now a part of
everyday life, but Earth still remains the main Homeland.
All of this ends, when a race called the Drej destroy the planet. Humans
then become refugees, wandering through space, and living in Drifter
colonies, being treated like 2nd class trash, all the time still being
hunted by the Drej.
The only hope the humans have, is a cynical young rebel named Cale (played
by Matt Damon), who owns a genetically encoded ring that reveal the mystery
of TITAN, a spaceship that hold the secret to saving the human race.
Along the way, Cale befriends a beautiful, skilled pilot (Drew Barrymore), a
rather sarcastic first-mate (Nathan Lane), a weapons specialist (Janeane
Garofalo), a crazy navigator, and a host of other interesting characters.
Aimed at an audience of young adults and grown-ups, Tiatan is a nice depar
ture from the tiresome old formulas for animated feature films. And, with
characters not breaking into song every 10 minutes, this movie leaves you
free to enjoy the gripping story and awesome special effects.
All in all, with its mixture of good writing and eye-popping cinematics,
Titan A.E. is one film that I recommend nobody miss.
